A Design Story: Louisville, Colorado Whole-House Remodel

Updated: Nov 17, 2023

This sweet family relocated to Colorado from California with a toddler and one on the way! Their tiny bungalow in CA translated to a home 4x the size but desperately needed updating. They purchased this out-of-date home with a shared vision with our design team, giving the whole house a much-needed facelift! It was a big project, and the work was extensive.

Exterior work included painting the whole house, replacing lighting, adding exterior electrical, removing decorative railings, and adding wood columns and headers on the porch.

The interior remodels touched almost every room in the house (only a few closets went untouched!). All wood flooring on the first floor was re-finished.

The open railing at the entry stairs was closed to create a more straightforward entry and space for a bench. All lighting was replaced, all walls were painted, and the electrical was updated. Major space re-configurations occurred in the kitchen and dining where a wall was removed, and a step down into the living room was re-shaped and extended.

The Primary Bath was also completely reconfigured, removing some outdated glass blocks. The Primary Bedroom received a new barn door, a shiplap finish on the ceiling, and a new ceiling fan.

The kids' bedrooms only needed painting and lighting upgraded, but oh my goodness, the difference!

In the living room, the fireplace rock was removed and replaced with wood paneling.

The basement bedroom and bathroom were reconfigured into a more classic guest bath layout, and space was reallocated to the basement living area - allowing for a new wet bar. A small workout room with a barn door was also added to the basement.

We had some fun with the downstairs Powder Bath, replacing fixtures one-for-one and adding new lighting, accessories, and a cool wallpaper.

Last, the laundry room became light and airy with the addition of glass to the exterior door - adding much-needed light to the space. The cabinetry was replaced, and a small cubby area was added. We accented the room with some fun painted concrete floor tile.

Such a difference!
